Graphene Quantum Dots
The smaller, the harder they work.
Graphene quantum dots are building blocks of carbon atoms obtained by functionalizing graphene micro-films. Made of one or a few layers of graphene and smaller than 5 nm, they are a new type of zero-dimensional carbon nanomaterial — small in size, strong in function.
What are graphene quantum dots? Properties, production and how they differ from graphene→

Properties
Environmentally friendly, structurally stable.
A quantum dot material free of highly toxic metals such as chromium and lead, with a very stable structure that resists strong acids, alkalis and mild corrosion. As a purely inorganic material with no metals or organic solvents, it adds functional performance to the materials it is combined with.
Durability
A physical mechanism that lasts.
Graphene quantum dots work on the treated material through a physical mechanism rather than by releasing chemicals.
- 01
No leaching
Unlike metal-based agents, there is no risk of metals leaching out of the material.
- 02
Wash durability
Less loss through washing than organic agents, so the performance of the material lasts longer.
- 03
Stable structure
Resistant to strong acids, alkalis and mild corrosion, so it can be used in a wide range of processes.
Applications
From textiles to packaging and cosmetics.
Graphene quantum dots are used in functional textiles, food packaging, home-textile fillings, baby products, feminine hygiene products, agriculture and biological fields.

Fibers and nonwovens
Polyester and nylon staple fibers, fleece and nonwovens with functional and reinforcing properties — for underwear, children’s clothing, bedding and care linens.

Long-lasting cling film
Quantum dots melt-compounded into PE and blow-molded — a new inorganic film that keeps the stretch and freshness-keeping of PE film while adding functional performance, as an alternative to metal-based additives.

Hair care and skin care
We are developing their use as a cosmetic ingredient in shampoos, hair tonics, body washes and more.
Functions in Japan
Five functions, as marketed in Japan.
In the Japanese market, textiles containing our graphene quantum dots are offered with the following five functions. The level of performance depends on the application and formulation.
- 01 · Antibacterial
Antibacterial and odor-resistant
Inhibits the growth of specific bacteria on the fiber, helping to prevent odor.
- 02 · Antiviral
Antiviral
Reduces specific viruses that adhere to the fiber.
- 03 · Anti-mite
Anti-mite
Helps keep dust mites away.
- 04 · Anti-mold
Anti-mold
Helps prevent mold from growing on the fiber surface.
- 05 · Far infrared
Far-infrared emission
Emits far-infrared radiation.
* The functions above describe the fiber itself, as used for textile products in the Japanese market. They are not claims that the product protects people from bacteria, viruses or disease. Claims that may be made for products sold outside Japan depend on local regulations (for example, the U.S. EPA and the EU Biocidal Products Regulation). Please consult us for each market.
